In a collaboration between Red Bull NZ & Mini NZ, a crew gathered at Red Bull's 'Base Camp' house in Queenstown to shoot the 'Chuck Vs Keys' for the Mini Soho IX. Led by Ivan Mennim we headed for the hills at the head of Lake Wakatipu to our base near the jump site. Winds aloft was evident from the wind borne snow on the tops so we headed up the Rees river to shoot set ups in a snowy river bed.

Chuck Skydives for Gudang Garam TV Commercial

In late 2009 I worked with director, Mark Toia of Zoom Film TV to perform the skydiving & snow running stunts for this Gudang Garam TV commercial. A great team of people came together at The Remarkables ski field in Queenstown to shoot the ad.  Johnny from Heliworks did the jump flying in an E model Hughes 500, taking myself & camera flyer Lottie Blair to 14 000 feet to jump into my snowy landing zone in the Doolans Basin at a height of 5500 feet.

Helicopter Rope Swinging

In March 2009 I got a call from Queenstown alpine legend Dave Spoon McLeod to help develop a successful rope swing using a helicopter to swing from for an upcoming episode of the Jack Osbourne Adrenaline Junkies TV show. This is right up my alley, I jumped at the chance to combine rope-climbing skills with my favourite aerial vehicle, the helicopter.

Becks Beer TV Commercial Wingsuit Skydiving

Now, wingsuit skydiving for the Becks Beer ad campain was totally incredible. The job description was to jump from one heilcopter, fly my wingsuit close by a ground based camera crew, then fly close to the ridges on the front face of the Remarkables Range, right in front of the camera halecipter hovering further down the hill. Fantastic, this is the stuff I live for. I got the most amazing visuals, flying my body down through the terrain.

Lexus Pursuit TV Commercial BASE Jumping

The Lexus Pursuit TV Commercial was a lot of fun to achieve the shots that the director was looking for. A tiny platform was built on the rocky outcrop, big enough for myself & cameraman Sol Vallis who nailed the air to air shot. Safety man Simon Rasmussen led the way to assess the windy conditions & give the cameraman in the helicopter some practice at shooting a rapidly accelerating human. While waiting for the wind to improve, the crew shot the aerials of me on the edge...peering down into the depth of the jump, quite happy to be near the steep stuff.
